October 2016 — LEDA Furniture ClosingLEDA Furniture has decided to cease production and is closing its doors. This was a very difficult and heart-breaking decision to make but the logistics of manufacturing domestic high end furniture in Ontario is becoming too great a challenge. The increase in cheap offshore imports, government regulations, high labour shortages and rates have had a really negative impact on domestic manufacturing, and have forced our hand to cease operations.

We are now liquidating our inventory, open Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm and Saturdays 10:00am to 12:00pm.

Thank you for your past support from the Confalone family and we look forward to a new chapter in our lives. Take care.

March 2016 — LEDA Participates in NFLD Hospitality ConferenceIn early March LEDA participated in the Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador Conference and Trade Show in St. John’s, NFLD.

The Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador’s Annual Conference and Trade Show is the largest gathering of tourism stakeholders in the province. Attendees have the opportunity to network with leaders in the industry and gather valuable information that will affect tourism in the province.

We had the opportunity to meet with many of the attendees and introduce them to LEDA. The furniture we had on display showcased our strong custom capabilities when it comes to hospitality casegoods.

One of the most positive responses we received at the conference pertained to our quality craftsmanship coupled with our domestic production. Our commitment to quality production, along with being a domestic supplier, continues to resonate with current and potential customers.

This was LEDA’s first time participating at this conference and it looks to have been a success. We received several positive comments on our product, our quality and our willingness to listen to the needs of the client and create custom casegoods for they require.

We look to forward to developing relationships with new clients whom we are ready and willing to satisfy their casegoods needs.

December 2013 — LEDA Showcases at BDNY Hospitality ShowThis past November LEDA participated in our second Boutique Design New York (BDNY) show. BDNY attracts designers, architects, purchasing executives, developers and hotel owners by presenting an array of unique and innovative exhibitors of furniture and other products catering to the hospitality sector.

This year we displayed a variety of products showcasing our custom capabilities, our veneering selection and techniques as well as having panels and images showcasing our domestic manufacturing facility. We also be debuted a selection from our new seating program that is ideal for the hospitality and office contract markets.

Overall we had very positive responses from both clients we have recently worked with and also new potential clients who are learning about LEDA and what we can offer them in hospitality casegoods. Naturally the domestic production aspect was a strong appeal to all visitors to our booth.

June 2012 — LEDA Showcases New Hospitality CasegoodsLeda Furniture Ltd made it’s hospitality market debut at the inaugural HI Connect Show this past spring with a casegoods showcase of spectacular lavender interiors, starburst veneered tops, exotic mozambique veneers, yellow onyx stone tops, custom hardware and hand finished metal accent.

Leda’s casegoods, designed by Design Continuum in Atlanta GA., highlight Leda's strengths in custom manufacturing.

The results were definitely a show stopper, to quote many of the visitors to our vignette. We can confidently claim Leda as being one of the largest manufacturing facilities operational in North America and probably the most mechanized facilities in its category.

With Leda’s tremendous capabilities of being able to supply 600 rooms within an 8-10 week period, they have supplied casegoods for such brands as, Hilton, Four Seasons, Radisson, Trump, W and St. Regis, among others.

The focus is the Five Star Luxury properties ranging from 200 rooms to 800 rooms. The innovation and quality which has made Leda successful in the residential and office contract industry, has now brought shock waves to the hospitality industry.

French Palette will debut with an array of paint and finishes options. “Today, it is all about consumer choices and we literally wanted to offer consumers a palette of colors giving them the option of arranging and mixing our finish/paint combinations anyway they choose” states Leda President Marco L Confalone.

This casual, small-scale, French country design has the versatility to fit a relaxed, laid back setting or can be upgraded to suit a formal environment. Design features for this cherry wood group include planking, mild distressing, detail accents and raised cabinets.

Also debuting here are new finish options for two of Leda’s popular designs. Windsor is now available in a warm Amaretto finish, bringing out the deep richness of its Makore veneer. November 2011 — Leda Increases Staff by over 50%Leda Furniture has increased their manufacturing staff by 54% in the last three months.

A desire from customers wanting domestic product, coupled with Leda’s quick-ship and product quality, seems to be the guiding force in Leda’s increase in residential, office contract and hospitality furniture sales.

“While we have seen a modest increase in demand for our residential and office contract line, we are experiencing a tremendous increase in the hospitality sector,” states Leda president Marco L Confalone.

The sudden surge in hospitality casegoods production has Leda scheduling hotel projects well into 2012. Leda attributes the increase to both hotels now starting to renovate their rooms once again and to Leda joining together with JIS Contract, a sales and marketing specialist to the hospitality sector. Both J.I.S. and Leda are been strong advocates for domestic manufacturing and strive to maintain those ideals.

“The hotels we are approaching have either lost a domestic vendor and/or are not satisfied with the imported they have tried,” adds Confalone. “Our reputation for providing quality domestically manufactured casegoods and responsive customer service in a timely manner, has allowed us obtain new hospitality customers.”

The increase in staff will not only allow Leda to accommodate this increase in production but also allow them to continue providing a quick ship program for their residential and office contract retailers. “We are using this opportunity to increase our presence in the hospitality market and also maintain our commitment to our entire client base.” adds Confalone.

Pink & black? On Furniture? “Why does furniture always have to be brown?” asks Confalone. “It’s a fresh-minded consumer group out there so we decided to go all out with an attention getting bed combo,” adds Confalone. The bed features storage rails and is available with either a veneer or upholstered headboard.

Fresh also highlights a brand new dining table top design, not round nor rectangle, but a 3 sided oval, accented by black or silver metal legs.

“We wanted to give people some fresh new opportunities for their furniture buying experience. Giving options is the way to do it. This allows consumers to customize their furniture selection. The annual event is held every year around the Labour Day weekend and employees are encouraged to invite their families to the event.

"Employees are one of the main cornerstones in any company, another being customers, and while customers are always thanked and acknowledged, we can never neglect our team of Leda employees whose cumulative sole purpose is to ensure customer satisfaction," states company president Marco L. Confalone.

This year's event honoured Lam Ly, who received recognition award for her 20 years of service as a Leda employee. Also, all employees received new work shirts as appreciation for their commitment to quality and service.

"In this difficult market place, we obtained feedback from several retailers, as well as consumer feedback, in regards to what changes they would like to see happen in the furniture buying process. The answers were varied but major areas of discontent surfaced time and time again. Once we had the information in front of us, the next hurdle was over-coming these shortcomings with positive actions" states Marco L Confalone, President.

The campaign addresses our new 14-day Quick Ship program, our focus on North American made product, as well as partnering with retailers and offering personal customer service and care.

April 2006 — Leda Furniture Adding 18,000 Square FeetToronto, Canada - Medium to high-end casegoods manufacturer Leda Furniture is adding 18,000sqft to its current manufacturing facility, making the total size of their facility 175,000sqft. The flat-line will run concurrently with their standard finishing line, thus increasing Leda‘s productivity. The new flat-line system will help Leda improve efficiencies and control costs. Leda anticipates this new line will create employment for 20 additional employees to their total workforce.
